Quadretti pasta is traditionally used in home-made meals. It is a side dish popular in continental Croatia but also in Istria and Kvarner. This wide and flat form of pasta originated in rural cuisine where nutritious dishes were often made of simple ingredients. Quadretti is often prepared in combination with meat or vegetables, for example with sauerkraut.
