A story worth every letter, but also the prize

The unique collection of folk songs (popevke) won its first award; one of them at the most prestigious festival of creativity.


For the project "A Story Worth Every Letter” Marodi and the agency Bruketa&Žinić&Grey won some of the best prizes; one of them is a bronze in the Print&Publishing/Innovative and Adapted use of Print & Publishing category at the most prestigious international festival of creativity - Cannes Lions. This is the most prestigious award in the world of market communications.


In 2018, Međimurska popevka (folk songs from the Međimurje region) was included on UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity; it will stay protected on the same list as long as it remains in use. In order to contribute to the preservation of popevka, a collection of five books of Međimurje folk songs was created in a limited edition, in which each book comes with a special package of Marodi alphabet pasta with the exact number of letters that make up the song.

"This campaign is not only about pasta, nor about singing traditional songs. This is a campaign that talks about belonging and love: love for your family, friends and that small part of the world you consider your own," said Nikola Žinić, creative director and co-owner of the Bruketa&Žinić&Grey agency.

 

"Our desire was to contribute to the local community, and we succeeded in that by declaring the official Day of Međimurje popevka. We started the campaign with the idea that we can best preserve tradition when we pass it on and live it. The award from Cannes is an important recognition of the campaign, our work and it certainly makes us very happy. I wish to thank all our partners in the project, especially the Alliance of Croatian cultural-artistic associations of Međimurje County (HKUUMŽ) and Međimurje County," said Antun Marodi, head of marketing.

 

Cannes Lions is the world's largest festival of creativity in marketing communications, with more than 26,000 applications this year alone, while the Cannes Lion award is considered the most prestigious in the industry.
